Passing of Long Time Club Member Roy Dear

Royal W. Dear, 77, of Bardin, passed away very peacefully Saturday, June 14 at home after a long battle with cancer.

Roy was born in Winchester, N.H. to a large family of hard workers on a farm.  He attended school in Winchester.  At the age of 17, he entered the U.S. Air force and retired after 21 years of service.  He then started a car crushing business with a friend, Fred Burgeon.    Roy had more hobbies than time.  In the early ‘80s he and Fred raced late model cars at Bronson Speedway.  In the 90’s it was skeet shooting at the Palatka Skeet Club.  He attended the World Skeet Shoot in Texas, and in ’94 was H.O.A., third place.  Later, Roy and his beloved brother, Cecil rode their Gold Wings up to see family in Canada and then all over the U.S.

Roy is survived by his wife, Brenda, sons, John McQuaig, Lee McQuaig and wife Melissa, Brett McQuaig and wife Delores.  Daughters, Julie Evans and husband Tim.  Sandra Dear.  Sisters;  Cheryl Greedy (Wade), Nancy Harris (Ed),  brother, Paul Dear (Dottie).  Roy’s three very special nephews, Bruce (Toni) Dear, Bruce Jr. and Andy Dear.  Grandchidren; Katie McQuaig, Ryan M., Brett Allen M., Zack and Candace M.,  Nathan Sherman and Sebrina Scott.

As per Roy’s wishes, no services are planned.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the beautiful people at Hospice of the Nature Coast. 927, S. State Road 19.  Palatka, FL. 32177.
